About Virgoe:

I have been passionate about sport all my life. I have participated in Cricket, Rugby, Golf, Race-Walking, and Table Tennis all at a high level. Outside of Table Tennis I have represented Queensland at Under 19 level in both Cricket and Rugby. At one stage I was a 4 handicap golfer and have won 2 club championships, one in Australia and one in South Africa. I am a Level 2 Representative Coach in Cricket. I have over 30 years of coaching experience in both Cricket and Rugby. I have a strong general understanding of the skills, techniques, and performance requirements of a range of ball sports. Some of there are transferable to Table Tennis

My involvement in Table Tennis began on the Gold Coast at age 42. Starting in Division 4 I worked my way up (with great coaches and persistent practice) to First Division. Since them I have played Division 1 at five clubs. I only moved clubs for work reasons. I have represented the Queensland Veterans Team on many occasions and have performed successfully at National Level. Although in a B team I can spring surprises. Highlights include beating the South Australia Over 40 Champion. I have twice been the top fixtures player in Div 1 at the Gold Coast Club. In two years in Toowoomba I won both singles and doubles in Men's and Veterans closed tournament. I am now settled in Bulimba and keen to make Wynnum my home club indefinitely.

In terms of Table Tennis Coaching, I developed a highly successful program at The Southport School. Hundred of students played recreationally at breaks and some passionate one's helped TSS to a number of State Schools Championship titles. A couple of QLD Men's Representatives came through the program. I am a Level 1 Qualified Table Tennis Coach.

Also relevant is the fact that I am a qualifed School teacher. I believe I relate well to people and have the right balance between very competitive but at the same time understanding that sport is for fun and for life. I have Postgraduate qualifications in Sports Coaching, Education, and Business. I enjoy coaching and helping others improve. I am confident that I can provide club members with quality coaching and good value for money.
