Wynnum Table Tennis is pleased to offer a 9-week after-school table tennis program for Carina State School students during Term 3.
The program is open to students from Prep to Year 6 and is suitable for complete beginners as well as children who have played before. Parents and carers are also welcome to join the sessions free of charge.
Across the 9 weeks, participants will progressively learn the fundamentals of table tennis, including:
the basic rules and scoring system;
how to hold the bat correctly;
ready position, balance and movement;
forehand and backhand strokes;
how to serve and return serve;
how to control the ball and build a rally;
how to play points and matches;
basic tactics, positioning and decision-making.
Sessions will combine skill-based activities, fun challenges, partner exercises and games. The focus will be on helping participants develop confidence, coordination, consistency and enjoyment of the sport in a welcoming environment.
Participants will also learn about fair play, taking turns, encouraging others and showing good sportsmanship.
